Top Ten Tuesday – New To Me Authors I Read In 2018

Hey everyone! Today I’m back with a Top Ten Tuesday post. It’s been about 2 and a half years since I last took part in this however since I’m getting back into blogging again it’s something I want to start doing more!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created by The Broke and Bookish however was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. As you can see from the title, this week’s topic is new authors (to me) that I read in 2018!

1) Neal Shusterman – Scythe/Thunderhead

I read these books a couple of months ago and absolutely fell in love with Shusterman’s writing. I really need to get round to reading his other books this year!

2) Alice Oseman – Solitaire/Radio Silence/I Was Born For This/Heartstopped

I had heard so much about Alice Oseman so decided to pick up one of her books at the library. I fell in love with her stories right away and have been hooked since! Her characters are so relatable and likeable.

3) Marie Lu – Warcross

Marie Lu is another author I’ve heard so much about but I’ve never picked up any of her books. Another trip to the library introduced me to the story and the fact that it was a mix of Ready Player One & Tron (two of my favourite things) had me hooked!

4) Brandon Sanderson – Skyward

Fairyloot introduced me to this author and I’m so grateful that they did otherwise I never would have thought about picking this book up and seeing how wonderful his worlds are! I’m most definitely going to be buying more of his books in the future.

5) Natasha Ngan – Girls Of Paper And Fire

Another author I was introduced to by Fairyloot and again one I fell in love with. Her world building, character development and just everything about her writing was amazing!

6) Angie Thomas – The Hate U Give

Angie Thomas’ writing is so real. She writes about the challenges so many POC face today and that’s one of the reasons I love her and this book.

7) Gail Honeyman – Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine

I adored this book. I adored Honeyman’s writing. I just loved everything.

8) V.E Schwab – City Of Ghosts/This Savage Song

Schwab is a huge author within the bookish community and I had never read any of her books up until last year! I’m so disappointed it took me so long to read them as I loved both so much and can’t wait to read more in the future.

9) Mindee Arnett – Onyx & Ivory

Another Fairyloot author that made me fall in love with their story. I can’t wait for the sequel to find out what’s next!

10) Melissa Albert – The Hazel Wood

I adored that Albert created a fairytale within a fairytale and it was so gripping! Again, I’m looking forward to the sequel!

I can’t wait to see what authors I discover this year! What authors were new to you in 2018? Let me know in the comments below!!

Have a good few days, stay fab and I’ll speak to you all soon! 🙂

  1. Great list! I love Alice Oseman’s books so much, they’re such relatable contemporaries. I still haven’t read I Was Born For This, but I’m so excited to 😊
