WWW Wednesday – 9th January 2019

www wednesday (1)

Hey everyone! So this is the first WWW Wednesday post of 2019.

WWW Wednesday is a meme led by Sam over at Taking On A World Of Words. All you have to do to take part is answer three (3) questions!

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

At the moment I’m currently taking part in the Fairyloot read along of Fire & Heist by Sarah Beth Durst. I’m actually really enjoying this story much more than I thought I would and due to getting so into it I’ve ended up a bit further ahead than I should be. This story has dragons/wyverns and a very strong minded female character and I love it!

Due to being a bit further ahead with the read along I started reading The Loneliest Girl In The Universe by Lauren James last night. I’m really torn about how I feel about it. I like the characters and the story but I just feel that there’s times where I just want the book to end. I have about a quarter left until I’m finished so hopefully my opinion will change in the next few chapters.

I’ve actually finished quite a few books in the last few days. A few days into the new year I finished listening to the An Absolutely Remarkable Thing (Hank Green) audiobook. I honestly really liked the story etc but Kristen Sieh’s narration sadly disappointed me. It was very boring and didn’t really do much for the story.

I’ve also finished All These Beautiful Strangers by Elizabeth Klehfoth, Descender Volume 1: Tin Stars by Jeff Lemire, Man Up Man Down: Standing Up To Suicide by Paul McGregor and Bitch Planet Volume 1: Extraordinary Machines by Kelly Sue DeConnick. My lowest rated book out of them all was Bitch Planet with only 2 stars. I just didn’t enjoy it as much I wanted to and it just seemed a bit all over the place. There just wasn’t enough of a background for me. The highest rated was Descender with 4 stars. I thoroughly enjoyed this graphic novel. The art, story, characters were just perfect. I really loved where it was going and I’m really excited to get my hands on the rest of the series! I rated Man Up Man Down 5 stars but that’s because I didn’t feel comfortable having to rate someone’s personal experiences coping and dealing with suicide. However, it was a huge help to some of the things I feel myself so it definitely deserves the rating it got.

I have quite a few books on my kindle that I need to review to so these will definitely be the next books I’ll be reading. This list includes;

  • Picture Of Innocence – TJ Stimson
  • Opposite Of Always – Justin A Reynolds
  • An Absolutely Remarkable Thing – Hank Green

I’m also being sent an ARC copy of How To Make Friends With The Dark by Kathleen Glasgow from Rock The Boat so that’ll be added to the list as well once it arrives!

Although I mentioned above about finishing An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, literally a few days afterwards I received an email from Netgalley to say I had been approved an ebook copy to review so I’m going to read the book this time and maybe listen to the audiobook again at the same time but I haven’t quite decided yet.

If any of you have done a WWW Wednesday post then leave me the link in the comments so I can check it out or just let me know about your past/current/future reads as well!

Have a good few days, stay fab and I’ll speak to you all soon!

  1. Hi! I’m really looking forward to Fire and Heist but couldn’t do the read a long this week. I recently finished The Other Side of Lost by Jessi Kirby, am currently reading The Girl King by Mimi Yu and next will be an ARC of Turn Coats (very exciting!) I started to read The Loneliest Girl in the Universe a little while a go but realised it wasn’t what I was in the mood for after a few pages. A lot of people seem to enjoy it though so I hope you like the rest of the book.

    1. I honestly wasn’t expecting a lot from Fire & Heist but it’s taken me by surprise and I’m enjoying it so much! I really hope you feel the same about it when you get around to it 🙂 I’ve seen so much hype around The Girl King so hopefully I’ll get to that some time this year (knowing me I’ll get to it 5 years behind everyone haha!) and I do recommend The Loneliest Girl In The Universe, it’s really really good and the characters are likeable but there’s just times where I wish it would hurry and end (that may be because I want to get back to Fire & Heist). I hope you enjoy all your books though!
