Magical Readathon 2018

Magical Readathon 2018

Hey guys!! Can you believe how close it is to Christmas?? So scary how quickly this year has passed.

Today I’m posting about the Magical Readathon hosted by the lovely Book Roast and the theme is Christmas At Hogwarts. For this theme, G created a sort of Marauder’s Map layout which meant you were able to pick your path and decide on the prompts you wanted to take part in.

The prompts I chose were;

  • Finish your coursework – Finish your current read
  • Help Hagrid decorate the trees – Book with a golden detail
  • Visit 3 Broomsticks for Mulled Pixie Wine – A read that should only take you a day/evening
  • Sneak into the kitchen to gift Dobby odd socks – Read that has an item of clothing on the cover
  • Use your Invisibility Cloak to get to the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts Library – Read a banned book
  • Attend the Christmas Feast – Watch a Harry Potter movie (optional)

So, for the first prompt (finish course work) I was reading Dear Jane by Marina DelVecchio which I managed to finish on Monday. This then allowed me to start my book with a golden detail which I decided would be Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows. I was so excited to finally be able to read this as I had been waiting for a few months to get round to it so this readathon was the perfect excuse! I ended up finishing that last night (Thursday) so I’m now at The Three Broomsticks reading Heartstopper by Alice Oseman. I’m absolutely loving reading this book as I adore Nick and Charlie and I’m so desperate for more of them in my life! Tomorrow I’ll be reading Leah On The Offbeat by Becky Albertalli as I gift some socks to Dobby and then my final read will be Tess Of The D’Urbervilles for my banned book.

This is the first readathon I’ve ever taken part in and it’s honestly been so fun! It’s helped me read books that I would’ve left to the side for another while before picking it up which I’m really happy about.

Are any of you guys taking part in the Magical Readathon? Or even any other readathon for that matter! If you are then let me know in the comments! I’d love for any readathon recommendations too as I’d love to take part in more in the future!

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas, be fab and have a great week ahead!
