Hey guys, so it’s that time of the week again! HARRY POTTER MOMENT OF THE WEEK! (HPMOTW)
HPMOTW is a meme started by Uncorked Thoughts and Lunar Rainbows and basically the aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/films/J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related!. To see the upcoming topics and to find out how to join then please do click on the links!
This week’s topic is: If you could change one thing in book one, what would it be?
I just recently finished re-reading the Harry Potter series again and I forgot how much I loved it! I love pretty much everything about the books and they’re magical in every way possible. However, if I HAD to change something then it’d probably the fact that Snape picked on Harry pretty much on his first day. He didn’t even get to know Harry before he started. He didn’t let Harry settle in to the class. It started as soon as the class began and for me that wasn’t fair.
What about you guys? Would you change anything?
This is such a cool meme! I’d never heard of it before. If I could change anything about the books I think I would change how Hermione acted in her first couple of appearances. She came off as super annoying instead of just super smart, so that when I first read them even after the troll in the bathroom scene I had a hard time coming to like her. 🙂 Great post!

As a Harry Potter fan it’s one of my favourite memes! And I kind of disliked how bossy Hermione could be but then I eventually started to love her!

Snape was a huge prick. It’s crazy that someone would take out a grudge on an 11 year-old kid. I wish Snape would have given him a chance. Harry was so new to everything in his world, you’re right, it wasn’t fair.

I detest Snape so much and have for a long time now. He was such a bully towards Harry and Neville especially, when none of them had even done anything wrong. I don’t know how anyone could feel any pleasure doing that to two young people. And then we have people going “Snape was a good man” like NO HE WASN’T HE DID SO MUCH WRONG AND THERE WAS NO GOOD REASON TO BE LIKE THAT

I really hate Snape. Even after reading the later books I still can’t like his character. I wonder how the series would have gone if he had given Harry a chance and seen more of a resemblance to Lily instead of James. It’s possible he could have been a mentor like Lupin or (fake)Madeye was. That would have been very interesting. Oooh, possibilities.

This is something I’ve thought about a lot! I would love to read the books from other people’s points of view like it would be so interesting! And I just can’t get my head around the fact people think he is a hero like what??

It’s so interesting reading everyone’s comments to this: lots of hatred for Snape! I AM a Snape fan but I totally agree about wishing he hadn’t been such a bully right from the very beginning. He’s so prejudiced against Harry and that does wind me up – but then prejudice seems pretty ingrained in the wizarding world, like when Hagrid tells Harry there wasn’t a bad witch or wizard who wasn’t in Slytherin.

I was actually surprised to find there were so many people who were fans of Snape! But I completely agree with the whole Harry and Hagrid thing!
